“Thanks Laura! It was wonderful having you with us to design and officiate our ceremony. Your ideas were great, you were always organized and on top of details we wouldn’t have realized without you – the ceremony was perfect!”

In this time of crisis, many wedding ceremonies have been postponed or put on pause indefinitely. I’m helping my couples to navigate their choices during this difficult time and I’m here for you too.

One thing that may help is to plan to do something special on what would have been your original wedding date.

*Get dressed up for a candlelight dinner and dancing at home

*Have a romantic picnic somewhere out of the ordinary in your home, or if you have access to a backyard or park, outside

*Write love letters to each other to open on the day (good practice for writing your vows!)

*Have a ceremony of promise and commitment officiated for you online on the day that was supposed to be your wedding day!

If you are interested in an online ceremony of promise and commitment, I can provide a casual, simple and sweet ceremony or something more customized. While social distancing is enforced, I want to make this really affordable. Fees start at $50 and a sliding scale is available. The simple and sweet commitment ceremony is free for couples who are already booked with Portrait Ceremonies for 2020.

You can reach me through the contact form or by emailing

Your love is unique in how it is expressed, felt, seen and heard.

I help you to celebrate your love’s uniqueness by creating, with your collaboration, a one-of-a-kind ceremony that will be yours alone, that will be memorable and meaningful, and that will keep you and your guests fully present and connected so that every moment is special.

Your ceremony will be written, using what you have shared with me about your relationship, so that it will sound and feel like you, and capture your sense of humour, your tone and your tastes. It may share how you met and fell in love, important memories, what you love and admire about one another and what you are grateful for. It may capture your vision for your shared future and what marriage and commitment mean to you. If you would like a unique unity ritual based on shared passions and interests we can create that. Your ceremony may involve a reading, poetry, music, theatre or dance, if that is meaningful to you.

You may want your parents, grandparents, children, special friends or loved ones, or even all of your guests to participate in a special way.  Loved ones who cannot be present through distance, illness or because they have passed away, can also be acknowledged in ways that are comfortable and meaningful, if you wish.

Ceremonies may be secular or include spiritual or religious touches. You direct the content and form so that it reflects your values and wishes. We will, together, create a ceremony that you will love. Your ceremony will be 100% pre-approved by you, so you can be in the moment, enjoying the special connection you will feel to one another and to your guests. It will be a ceremony that is remembered for years to come.

I am a Life-Cycle Celebrant and licenced minister, and I put my heart and creativity into every ceremony, offering you guidance and support throughout the process. Call or email today to arrange for a relaxed conversation to discuss your ceremony and to get a quote based on your date, location, preferred style and customization. I look forward to chatting with you!
